1. Provider and scope
These terms govern the use of the BestBooks iOS app. The provider is the operator named in the Imprint. Apple's Standard License Agreement for apps from the App Store applies in addition.
2. Service
BestBooks helps you keep track of your books, follow reading goals and discover new books. The app is free. Book data and covers come from public sources such as Open Library, Google Books and the German National Library; we do not warrant that they are correct or complete. There is no entitlement to any particular availability or feature.
3. Account
An account is optional. You sign in with your Apple Account. Your display name, username, reviews and messages to friends must not infringe the rights of others or be offensive. You can delete your account in the app at any time.
4. Your data on the device
Your library, notes, ratings and reading times are stored on your iPhone; with an account you share part of them with friends (see Privacy). You are responsible for backing up your data; the app offers an export as a CSV file for that.
5. Rights of use
You receive a simple, non-transferable right to use the app for private purposes on your Apple devices. All rights in the app, its design and its content remain with the provider.
6. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations, limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. For loss of data we are liable only to the extent that would have arisen with regular backups.
7. Changes and law
We may amend these terms when the app or the law changes. German law applies; mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.
